Lined & Unlined is a collection and and an archive of Rob Giampietro’s writing.

What you’ll find here are most of my published essays for Dot Dot Dot, Emigre, Design Observer, and Kevin’s and my columns for BusinessWeek Online; several unpublished essays; class lectures, assignments, and syllabi; interviews and portfolios by new designers whose work excites me; a growing list of recommended readings; and a look at what’s on my actual bookshelves in the library. Let’s call it a “filing cabinet on the internet,” and I’m handing out the key. Give, take, and repurpose to your heart’s delight.

Speaking of great resources to peruse, Walker Channel can be a model for museums and art departments across the board on how to document and disseminate lectures and artist talks. Some of the excellent talks in design series feature Chip Kidd, Mevis & Van Deursen, Maureen Mooren and Daniel van der Velden, Paul Sahre, Antenna Design, and Ric Grefé.

These shoud not overshadow the fact that Michael Bierut has just published a book, Forty Posters for the Yale School of Architecture, the images of which are available over at Design Observer, nor that Rick Poynor has published a list of Top 15 Design and Visual Culture Books.

Brand New is getting pretty lively.
